    The COVID pandemic caused us all to rethink how to protect our staff, patients and ourselves from a virulent and somewhat unpredictable virus. During the 6+ weeks of lockdown, governmental agencies and medical societies produced suggested guidelines for safe reopening of practices.

    Now that we have had  6 months of experience following many of these guidelines and dealing with COVID, practitioners from around the country, we will discuss the measures they have adopted to practice safely in the office and operating room. Topics will include changes the office experience, virtual visits, exam room safety precautions, OR safety precautions, COVID testing, and new office protocols. We will also discuss the drawbacks and well as the benefits we have experienced with instituting many of these changes.

    Practice Management Part 1 - Invited experts address a variety of Practice Management Issues.

Gregory Chernoff, MD, Thomas Romo, MD, Beth Stern for Keith LaFerriere, MD, Mary Lynn Moran, MD, Angela O'mara, J.Regan Thomas, MD Over a two day period, a series of presentations given by Academy members and invited experts addressed a variety of Practice Management issues. Ranging from the business of running a practice, hiring, staff development, advertising, good media use practices, assessing a practice, pricing, retirement planning, using technology to operate more efficiently, relationships, consultations, academic medical practice, management in ambulatory settings, tips for the first 10 years of practice and many others, these sessions were designed to provide the current thinking of experts in the field. Many presentations incorporated video clips and sound clips to illustrate points. All used PowerPoint presentations to convey concepts. The series was chaired by Richard D. Gentile, MD, MBA. In order to fit on a single DVD, presentations only are provided. Introductions and discussions were not included due to space and time considerations. The total program series fits on one DVD and is of extremely good quality. The Academy does not promote a particular business philosophy and the opinions and experiences of the presenters represent their experiences.
